My name is Oscar. I am Cooinda Cat Resort's Cat of the Month this month. I am 4 human years of age, but I am really 32 cat years of age. This makes me an adult. Scary how in another 3 years (Aged 7), I will be classified as a senior citizen and we expecting by seniors card. I would like to educate all you cat owners out there about the difference between cat and human years. The myth of "one cat year equals seven human years" is just that - a myth.
In a way, we are very similar. We go through the different stages of life, just like you guys. By age 1 in human years, we are already a teenager and as most of you would know, act very much like a teenager, we can be mischievous and also a little disobedient. By age 4 (my age) in human years, we are in our 30's and have had some life experience by now and start settling down. This is about the time where there is more sleep and less play.
At age 9, we are in our early 50s and by age 11 (human years) we are 60 cat years. Yep that's right...60 cat years. Now is the time that things start to slow down. We are not necessarily as agile as we use to be (of course not always the case) , our weight starts to increase, our skin starts to stretch, and our patience isn't always as good as it use to be.
At age 21, I will be awaiting my letter from the Queen. Here is a chart below for all you cat owners to keep an eye on.
