Cat owners in the Shire of Yarra Ranges will be required to keep their pets within their property at all times when the new law is enforced in six months. A council report says the law received overwhelming support in an online poll with almost
60 per cent of respondents in favour of the ban.
The introduction of this new law will help reduce chances of cats being run over, going missing from either abductions or becoming lost. The law could help cat owners save some money on vet bills due to cat fight injuries or cats fighting with wildlife.
Of course, the main issue with cats roaming the streets is they have been known to attack and kill wildife in the areas, and while this is a natural instinct for cats, we do try and protect what wildlife we do have.
There are a number of different Cat Enclosures you could setup for your cat to stay protected in your own property. Some of these enclosures may involve you carrying your cat oudoors and palcing them in the enclosure, some can have cat doors attached, and others would enclose your whole backyard with high netting. This allows your cat to still have access to the outdoors.
Here at Cooinda Cat Resort, we use cat enclosures from both Catmax and Catnip and if you would like to come down and have a look at these, you can call us on 03 5971 1395. Alternatively we do also recommend the following:
