Our Cat of the Month, Wyne would love to share her Holiday Diary with you. She had a Purrfect holiday retreat at Cooinda Cat Resort and wants to let everyone know.
My mornings began with a awesome pats and cuddles before being let out into my exercise area at 7 in the morning, sometimes earlier... It is super exciting. I Love my breakfast every morning which consists of this yummy big bikkies that taste amazing, even though they are meant to be good for my teeth. This is what my mum feeds me at home and I'm so Happy that Cooinda does it to.
I Love sitting outdoors supervising the Kitty carers while they are doing their daily activities and also getting lots of pats from them at the same time. If the pretend to not see me, I let them Know I'm here and they always come back for my pats. I also like High 5ing them as they go past. I hold my paw out and they all give my paw a tickle.
In the afternoons, I get to wonder in the Fernery Gardens in the grasses and it is soo amazing. I wasn't too sure about this grass stuff when I first came into contact with it... but the Kitty carers helped me get use to it and now I LOVE IT! I love puncing in it, rolling in it, eating it, trying to jump over it, and also stalking through it. There is nothing better than play time in the grasses.
I hope you have enjoyed hearing me tell you about my holiday and I look forward to seeing the Kitty Carers again soon.
I have noticed that what cats most appreciate in a human being is not the ability to produce food which they take for granted - but his or her entertainment value.

House fires are devastating events. Tragically, many pets do not survive because rescuers do not know they are there. This is especially true if a fire starts while you are not home.
You can avoid this by placing a prominent sign in the window. The sign should indicate the type and number of pets you have. When Removing pets from burning buildings, you should transport them to a veterinary hospital as quickly as possible. Do not place your own life at risk by attempting to rescue a pet from a burning building.
If possible, have firefighters or medical personnel at the site of the fire administer oxygen to pets suffering from smoke inhalation injury for 10 to 15 minutes prior to transport. Administering oxygen as soon as possible reduces the amount of carbon monoxide poisoning and may stabilize pets that are at risk of dying prior to reaching the hospital.
Smoke Inhalation in Cats
Smoke inhalation injury is direct damage to the airways and lung tissue caused by exposure to heat, particulate matter in smoke and the gaseous by-products of fire.
Causes of Smoke Inhalation Injury could be Thermal Injury to the upper airways (Breathing in hot air), Suffocation due to the fire reducing the oxygen content in the air that is breathed, Chemical Injury such as inhalation of carbon monoxide, cyanide, hydrogen chloride ect.
Signs to watch for:
Increased Respiratory Rate
Irritation of the Eyes
Discharge from Eyes & Nose
Respiratory or cardiac arrest
If you suspect your cat of Smoke Inhalation, we highly recommend you take your cat to your veterinarian immediately for a checkup.
Should You Share your chocolate with your cats? The Short answer is NO!
Cats are well known for getting into lots of different things they are not suppose to... including your Easter Egg Stash. This can be a dangerous combination as chocolate contains certain properties that can be toxic to cats. When Chocolate is ingested, these ingredients lead to various medical complications and may even prove fatal for your cat.
So Make sure you keep a count on all your Easter Eggs to make sure the kitties aren't trying to steal any.
The amount and type of Chocolate ingested by your cat is important, as they are determining factors for the severity of the toxicity. If you suspect your cat has ingested chocolate, you should immediately take your cat to be examined by your Vet.

Wyne is use to a lifestyle in the house. When she stays at Cooinda Cat Resort, she enjoys staying in our Sunny Haven. However we do bring her up to our Secure Fernery Internal Gardens for a run around in the long grasses.
At First she wouldn't step foot into the gardens because the edging is all grass plants. We picked her up and placed her in the gardens and she stood there for a moment looking up at us. She then started lifting her feet up and down on the grasses getting a feel of their texture.
She seemed to enjoy them because she then plonked herself down in the grasses and was rolling around and lolling her head back and forth. She then worked out that she could eat them and the tasted nice to chew.
From this point on, she loved being in the grasses and running through them.. and having a good chew.
