Most expeditions were officially sponsored, but some were commissioned by private investors. Explorers set out to discover rivers and land suitable for agriculture as well as to survey the land. Later, it was important to discover the best routes for lines of communication.
Shaggy spent hours doing this, taking every route possible. He went round to the left of the gardens along the paths, he tried round to the right. He tried venturing through the gardens... having a munch on the grasses along the way.
He came to the conclusion that running through the middle of the gardens and jumping over the ponds would be the fastest possible route for lines of communication but had to quickly give this idea away.
Shaggy would have made a Purr-fect Early Explorer, if only he could draw maps for future generations.
